FACT 1 - DISCOVERY OF CBD
Dr. Roger Adams and his team were the first to discover Cannabidiol (CBD) in 1940 at the University of Illinois. Even though it was discovered in 1940, its structure was not fully elucidated until 1963.
FACT 2 - 1 OF 133 IDENTIFIED CANNABINOIDS
CBD is 1 of 133 currently identified cannabinoids. This means there are 132 other chemical compounds within the Hemp or Cannabis plant that either can cause non-psychoactive and psychoactive affects. Some are more powerful than others, however each has it’s own purpose.
FACT 3 - CBD MADE FEDERALLY LEGAL IN 2018
CBD Derived from the hemp plant was made federally legal in the United States with the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill. This means CBD extracted from Industrial hemp (0.3% or less THC) is not illegal in all 50 states.
FACT 4 - CBD COUNTERACTS THE EFFECTS OF THC
CBD has been found to counteract the bad effects of THC. Some people experience high levels of anxiety, paranoia, and memory impairment when consuming too much cannabis. CBD can counteract those negative effects and help calm users down.
FACT 5 - CBD DOES NOT DIRECTLY STIMULATE CB1 AND CB2 RECEPTORS
CBD is not psychoactive and this is because the molecules do not actually bind to the CB1 and CB2 receptors found in the endocannabinoid system. Instead what they do is signal the body’s naturally occurring cannabinoids to activate the receptors to be more active than they normally are.
